My cherished and precious reader,
I am Sr. Maria Chibuzo Ogu, a B.Sc. student of Diaconia University of Applied Science Bielefeld whose passion for saving lives and serving others, motivate in this nursing profession both as a student and a qualified working nurse in Deutschland ...
Presently, l am in the 3rd semester of my studies that requires nursing experience in a country outside Deutschland. l have chosed Nigeria for this important stage in my studies with mixed feelings of joy and sorrow. The feeling of joy is based on the fact of meeting my beloved ones in Nigeria. The feeling of sorrrow is based on the fact that many wealthy people in Nigeria fly themselves to Europe for medical treatment.
The major question is why do the rich citizens of Nigeria fly to Europe for treatment? The president flies to England constantly for medical treatment. ls it because of lack of medical personnel? Or there is unavailability of medical instruments and infrastructure? When any of the above is the reason for such, is there no way out since not all Nigeria are buoyant enough to foot the bill of medical treatment abroad. My journey to do such in my country will offer me the best opportunity to get not only the right answers to the aforementioned questions but to offer the necessary solution towards the betterment of health system in Nigeria. In the same vein, such experience will give me a good ground to compare health system in African (Nigeria) and Europe (Deutschland).
l have chosen Annunciation Hospital Enugu owned by my religious congregation-Daughters of Divine Love.
Stay tuned and connected as l explore the health system for two weeks in Nigeria.
